AWS BACKUP :

AWS Backup is a fully managed backup service that makes it easy to centralize and automate the back up of data across AWS services in the cloud as well as on premises using the AWS Storage Gateway. AWS Backup integrates with AWS Storage Gateway, a hybrid cloud storage service that enables your on-premises applications to seamlessly use AWS storage. Using this service, you can configure backup policies and monitor activity for your AWS resources in one place. It allows you to automate and consolidate backup tasks that were previously performed service-by-service and removes the need to create custom scripts and manual processes.

AWS Storage Gateway :

AWS Storage Gateway is a hybrid cloud storage service that gives you on-premises access to virtually unlimited cloud storage. Storage Gateway provides a standard set of storage protocols such as iSCSI, SMB, and NFS, which allow you to use AWS storage without rewriting your existing applications. Storage Gateway is fast and easy to deploy, enabling you to integrate it with your existing environments and access AWS Storage in a frictionless manner.

Amazon Glacier :

Amazon Glacier, is a low-cost cloud storage service for data with longer retrieval times offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon Glacier provides storage for data archiving and backup of cold data. With S3 Glacier, you can store your data cost effectively for months, years, or even decades. S3 Glacier helps you offload the administrative burdens of operating and scaling storage to AWS.

Three Amazon S3 Glacier archive storage class types are:

  • S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval - Use for archiving data that is rarely accessed and requires milliseconds retrieval.
  • S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval (formerly the S3 Glacier storage class) - Use for archives where portions of the data might need to be retrieved in minutes. Data stored in the S3 Glacier Flexible Retrieval storage class can be accessed in as little as 1-5 minutes by using Expedited retrieval. You can also request free Bulk retrievals in up to 5-12 hours.
  • S3 Glacier Deep Archive - Use for archiving data that rarely needs to be accessed. Data stored in the S3 Glacier Deep Archive storage class has a default retrieval time of 12 hours.

Cloud storage:

Cloud storage is a cloud computing model that stores data on the Internet through a cloud computing provider that manages and operates the data storage as a service. Delivered on demand with just-in-time capacity and cost, it eliminates the purchase and management of your own storage infrastructure. This gives you agility, global scale and resilience with "anytime, anywhere" data access.

Features of Cloud Storage:

  • Access the storage you need faster
Provision resources in minutes instead of weeks. Accelerate time to market, avoid complex capacity planning, and reduce over-provisioning with just a few clicks.
  • Reduce storage spend
Minimize total cost of ownership (TCO) with managed services that eliminate infrastructure maintenance. Optimize storage costs based on how often and how fast you need to access your data.
  • Secure your storage
AWS supports more security standards and compliance certifications than any other cloud provider, helping customers meet the requirements of nearly every regulatory agency in the world.
  • Fuel innovation with new insights
Choose from a variety of tools to do more with your data and accelerate the delivery of new products and services.
Run big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high performance computing (HPC), and media processing applications on all your cloud data.

Benefits of Cloud Storage:

  • Total cost of ownership. With cloud storage, you don't have to buy hardware, provision storage, or commit capital to a "one day" scenario. Add or remove capacity as needed, quickly change performance and retention characteristics, and pay only for the storage you use. Infrequently accessed data can also be automatically moved to lower cost tiers according to auditable rules, promoting economies of scale.
  • Time to deploy. When your development team is up and running, your infrastructure shouldn't slow them down. Cloud storage enables IT departments to rapidly provision exactly the amount of storage they need, when they need it. This allows IT departments to focus on solving complex application problems instead of managing storage systems.
  • Information Management. Centralizing storage in the cloud opens new use cases to great power. By using policies to manage the lifecycle of cloud storage, you can perform powerful information management tasks such as automated data tiering and locking to support compliance requirements.

Types of Cloud Storage:

  • Object storage - Applications developed in the cloud often take advantage of the massive scalability and metadata properties of object storage. Object storage solutions like Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) are ideal for building from the ground up modern applications that require scalability and flexibility, and can store existing data for analysis, backup, or archiving. It can also be used to import stores.
  • File Storage - Some applications need access to shared files and require a file system. This type of storage is often backed by Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers. File storage solutions such as Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) are ideal for use cases such as large content repositories, development environments, media storage, and user home directories.
  • Block Storage - Other enterprise applications such as databases and ERP systems often require dedicated low-latency storage per host. It is similar to Direct Attached Storage (DAS) or Storage Area Network (SAN). A block-based cloud storage solution such as Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) is deployed alongside each virtual server to provide the ultra-low latency required for high-performance workloads.
